DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 88-R-016 between the Iowa Department of Transportation, Boone County and the City of Boone transferred Iowa 164 to local jurisdiction on October 22, 1990. It should therefore be removed from the Primary Road System.

Iowa 164 begins at Ledges State Park and travels northerly to US 30 in Boone.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that Iowa 164 and its extension in Boone County be deleted from the Primary Road System.

Iowa 164 and its extension in Boone County described as follows:

Beginning at the west entrance to the Ledges State Park near the center of the SE ¼ Section 17-T83N-R26W; thence in a northwesterly and northeasterly direction through Section 17-T83N-R26W to a point approximately 1300 feet south of the NE Corner said Section 17; thence in a generally northerly direction through the west part of Sections 16 and 9-T83N-R26W to a point near the W ¼ Corner of Section 9-T83N-R26W; thence north following substantially the section line of said Section 9 to near the NW Corner Section 9-T83N-R26W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of said Section 9 to a point approximately ¼ mile west of the NE Corner Section 9-T83N-R26W; thence north following substantially the east quarter section line through Section 4-T83N-R26W to the south corporation line of Boone, connecting with South Story Street.

Boone:

Beginning on South Story Street at the south corporation line; thence north on South Story Street to US 30.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Iowa 164 in Boone should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 164 in Boone County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
