DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
US 20 was
relocated from the Buchanan‑Black Hawk County line approximately one and
one‑half miles south of Jesup easterly to a
junction with
The Buchanan
County Functional Classification Board classified it as Freeway‑Expressway
and the old alignment of US 20 was classified as Trunk under the State
Functional Classification System on October 13, 1985. The official description
of US 20 in Buchanan County should be revised to reflect this relocation. The
geographic location of the remainder of US 20 in
The old
alignment of US 20 from the Buchanan‑Black Hawk County Line at Jesup easterly to the west corporation line of Independence
should be re-designated as a portion of Unsigned Iowa 939.
US 20 begins
at the Buchanan‑Black Hawk County Line approximately one and one‑half
miles south of Jesup and travels easterly via
Independence to the Buchanan‑Delaware County Line approximately seven
miles southwest of Manchester.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It is
recommended to approve revising the description of US 20 in Buchanan County and
including the new description in the Primary Road System.
