Beginning on the Davis‑Appanoose County line at a point near the NW Corner of Section 6‑T68N‑R15W, Davis County (NE Corner of Section 1-T68N‑R16W, Appanoose County); thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2‑T68N‑R15W to a point approximately 2,350 feet east of the SW Corner Section 35‑T69N‑R15W; thence in a northeasterly direction through Sections 35 and 36-T69N-R15W and Section 31‑T69N‑R14W to a point approximately ¼ mile south and 700 feet west of the NE Corner Section 31‑T69N‑R14W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through said Section 31 to a point approximately 600 feet south of the NW Corner Section 32-T69N-­R14W (west junction US 63); thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 600 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 32‑T69N‑R14W; thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 32, 33, 34, and 35‑T69N‑R14W to the west corporation line of Bloomfield connecting with an unnamed street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to new construction in the Bloomfield area, Iowa 2 in Davis County should be deleted and the new description should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

Iowa 2 begins on the Davis‑Appanoose County line, approximately 2 miles south and 12 miles west of Bloomfield, and travels generally easterly via Bloomfield and Pulaski to the Davis‑Van Buren County line, at the west corporation line of Milton, Iowa.

 

AGREEMENTS: In accordance with agreement 77‑U‑111 between the City of Bloomfield and the Iowa Department of Transportation, that portion of the old alignment of old Iowa 2 and US 63 from the west corporation line of Bloomfield north and easterly to the intersection of Jefferson Street and Washington Street and old Iowa 2 on Franklin Street easterly from Washington Street to the east corporation line will revert to city jurisdiction effective September 22, 1977.

 

In accordance with an agreement between Davis County and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved by Department of Transportation Commission Order H‑77‑245 on November 18, 1976, the following described sections of old Iowa 2 will revert to the Davis County Secondary Road System effective October 11, 1977:

 

Old Iowa 2 from Station 1562+00, near the north line of Section 35‑T69N‑R14W, northeasterly to the west corporation line of Bloomfield, a distance of approximately 0.9 mile.

 

Old Iowa 2 from Station 2037+00 at the east corporation line of Bloomfield, east and south to Station 2704+80.5, near the W ¼ Corner Section 4‑T68N‑R13W, a distance of approximately 3.3 miles.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 2 in Davis County be deleted and the new description be included in the Primary Route System.

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location and description of Iowa 2 in Davis County to be effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
