Due to the extension of Iowa 163, the official route description in the Primary Roads System should be revised to reflect this change.

New Description – Iowa 163 and its extensions in Des Moines County described as follows:

Beginning on the Des Moines-Henry County line traversing along US 34 at a point approximately 3200 feet south of the NW Corner Section 31-T71N-R4W, Des Moines County (NE Corner Section 36-T71N-R5W, Henry County); thence in a southeasterly and southerly direction through Section 31-T71N-R4W and Sections 6, 5, 8, 9, 16, 21, and 28-T70N-R4W to a point near the Center of said Section 28; thence easterly through Sections 28 and 27-T70N-R4W to a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 26-T70N-R4W; thence southeasterly, easterly, and northeasterly through Sections 26 and 25-T70N-R4W to the west corporation line of Middletown connecting with an unnamed street (approximately 780 feet south of the Center of said Section 25).

Middletown:

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly on said unnamed street to the east corporation line connecting (approximately 492 feet south of the E ¼ Corner Section 25-T70N-R4W).

Beginning again on the east corporation line of the City of Middletown connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly and northeasterly through Sections 30 and 29-T70N-R3W to a point near the W ¼ Corner of Section 28-T70N-R3W; thence easterly to the E ¼ Corner of said Section 28; thence southeasterly through Section 27-T70N-R3W to the north corporation line of West Burlington (approximately 453 feet south and 1128 feet east of the W ¼ Corner of said Section 27) connecting with an unnamed street.

West Burlington:

Beginning on the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence in an southeasterly and easterly direction to the east corporation line (west corporation line of the City of Burlington) (approximately 1915 feet east of the Center of Section 36-T70N-R3W) connecting with an unnamed street.

Burlington:

Beginning on the west corporation line (east corporation line of the City of West Burlington) connecting with an unnamed street; thence in an easterly and southeasterly direction to the east corporation line (Iowa-Illinois State line) connecting with an unnamed street (approximately 178 feet north and 3099 feet east of the SE Corner Section 33-T70N-R2W).
