Beginning on the Emmet‑Palo Alto County line at a point approximately ¼ mile west of the SE Corner of Section 32‑T98N‑R33W, Emmet County (NE Corner of Section 5‑T97N‑R33W, Palo Alto County); thence in a northwesterly and northerly direction through Sections 32, 29, 30, 19, and 18‑T98N‑R33W to the south corporation line of Wallingford connecting with an unnamed street.

Wallingford:

Beginning at the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northwesterly and northerly on said unnamed street to the north corporation line.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of Wallingford connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northerly and northwesterly direction through Section 6‑T98N‑R33W and Section 31‑T99N‑R33W, and Sections 36, 25, 24, and 23‑T99N‑R34W to the south corporation line of Estherville connecting with South 9th Street.

Estherville:

Beginning on South 9th Street at the south corporation line; thence northwesterly and northerly on South 9th Street to North 9th Street; thence northerly and northeasterly on North 9th Street to the north corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 4 in Emmet County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 4 begins on the Emmet‑Palo Alto County line approximately 4 ½ miles southeast of Wallingford and travels in a northerly direction via Wallingford and Estherville, Iowa to the Iowa‑Minnesota State line approximately 6 ½ miles northeast of Estherville, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 4 and its extensions in Emmet County as follows:

Beginning on the Emmet‑Palo Alto County line at a point approximately ¼ mile west of the SE Corner of Section 32‑T98N‑R33W, Emmet County (NE Corner of Section 5-T97N-R33W, Palo Alto County); thence in a northwesterly and northerly direction through Sections 32, 29, 30, 19, and 18‑T98N‑R33W to the south corporation line of the City of Wallingford connecting with an unnamed street.

Wallingford:

Beginning at the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northwesterly and northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the City of Wallingford connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northerly and northwesterly direction through Section 6-T98N‑R33W and Section 31-T99N-R33W, and Sections 36, 25, 24, and 23-T99N‑R34W to the south corporation line of the City of Estherville connecting with an unnamed street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 4 in Emmet County, Iowa.
