DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 42 begins at Iowa 275 approximately four miles west of the City of Riverton, and travels easterly into the City of Riverton.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑42‑O (6), between Fremont County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 42 from US 275 near the N ¼ Corner Section 27‑T68N‑R42W easterly to the west corporation line of the City of Riverton to county jurisdiction on December 19, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑42‑0 (5), between the City of Riverton and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 42 from the west corporation line of the City of Riverton easterly to Summer Avenue to city jurisdiction on December 29, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 42 in Fremont County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 42 and its extension in Fremont County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the N ¼ Corner Section 27‑T68N‑R42W (junction of US 275); thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 27, 26, and 25‑T68N‑R42W and Sections 30 and 29‑T68N‑R41W to the west corporation line of the City of Riverton, Iowa connecting with an unnamed street.

Riverton:

Beginning at the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence east to the intersection of said unnamed street and Summer Avenue.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 42 in Fremont County should be deleted and the new description should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 42 begins approximately 4 miles west of Riverton, at the junction US 275 and travels in an easterly direction terminating in the City of Riverton, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 42 and its extension in Fremont County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the N ¼ Corner Section 27‑T68N‑R42W (junction of US 275); thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 27, 26, and 25‑T68N‑R42W and Sections 30 and 29‑T68N‑R41W to the west corporation line of the City of Riverton, Iowa connecting with an unnamed street.

Riverton:

Beginning at the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence east to the intersection of said unnamed street and Summer Avenue.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 42 in Fremont County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.

Riverton:

Commencing on "K" Street at the west corporation line; thence east on "K" Street to the Intersection of "K" Street and Summer Avenue.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway Commission approve the location of Iowa 42 in Fremont County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective as per Fremont County Agreement signed December 19, 1973.
