DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
US
20 was relocated and opened to traffic on June 14, 1986 using a portion of
US
20 and Iowa 14 will run duplicate from a junction with old Iowa 57 at a point
near the NW Corner Section 6-T88N‑R16W north to the Grundy‑Butler
County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 5‑T89N‑R16W.
The
old alignment of US 20 from the Grundy‑Butler County line at a point near
the NW Corner Section 4‑T89N‑R15W south and east to the Grundy‑Black
Hawk County line at a point near the NE Corner Section 17‑T89N‑R15W
should be re-designated as Iowa 57.
The
official description of US 20 should be revised to reflect these changes. The remainder of US 20 remains unchanged.
US
20 begins at the Grundy‑Butler County line at the NW Corner of Grundy
County and travels easterly approximately three and one half (3 ½) miles. It begins again on the Grundy‑Butler
County line approximately one (1) mile south of Parkersburg and travels south
and east to the Grundy-Black Hawk County line approximately four and one half
(4 ½) miles east of Dike.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It
is recommended to approve revising the description of US 20 in Grundy County
and including the new description to the primary road system.
