DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 123 begins at US 34 approximately 900 feet south of the City of Rome, and travels generally northerly into the City of Rome.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑123‑1 (0), between Henry County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 123 from US 34 approximately 650 feet north and 1300 feet west of the SE Corner Section 5‑T71N‑R7W northerly to the south corporation line of the City of Rome to county jurisdiction on August 26, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑123-0 (5), between the City of Rome and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 123 from the south corporation line north and east to Third Street to city jurisdiction on July 10, 1981.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 123 in Henry County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 123 and its extension in Henry County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 650 feet north and 1300 feet west of the SE Corner Section 5-T71N‑R7W; thence in a northerly direction through said Section 5 to the south corporation line of the City of Rome, connecting with an unnamed street.

Rome:

Beginning at the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street thence north and easterly to Third Street.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 123 in Henry County should be deleted, and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 123 begins at the junction US 34 approximately 2 miles east of the Henry‑Jefferson County line travels northerly and terminates in the City of Rome, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 123 in Henry County, Iowa, as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 650 feet north and 1300 feet west of the SE Corner Section 5‑T71N‑R7W; thence in a northerly direction through said Section 5 to the south corporation line of the City of Rome, connecting with an unnamed street.

Rome:

Beginning at the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence north and easterly to Third Street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 123, Henry County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Beginning on Fourth Street at the south corporation line; thence north on Fourth Street to Broadway Street; thence east on Broadway Street to Third Street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway commission approve the route number change in Henry County, Iowa.
