DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 78 in Keokuk County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 78 begins at the junction Iowa 149 approximately 2 miles east of Martinsburg and travels in an easterly direction to the Keokuk‑Washington County line approximately 2 miles east of Richland, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 78 in Keokuk County, Iowa as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 1300 feet east of the SW Corner Section 26‑T74N‑R12W (junction Iowa 149); thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 35 and 36‑T74N‑R12W; Sections 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36‑T74N‑R11W and Sections 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 (junction Iowa 1) and 36‑T74N‑R10W to the NE Corner Section 36‑T74N‑R10W, Keokuk County (NW Corner Section 31‑T74N‑R9W, Washington County).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 78, Keokuk County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

NOTE: Grading completed and maintenance started 6-25-48.
