DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
Due to the opening of the new US 30 Mt.
Vernon/Lisbon bypass it is recommended that the route description for US 30 in
Linn County be updated.
New Description- US 30 and its extensions in Linn
County are described as follows:
Beginning
on the Linn-Benton County Line at a point near the NW Corner Section 31-T83N-R08W,
Linn County (NE Corner Section 36-T83N-R09W, Benton County); thence east
following substantially the section line of Sections 31, 32, and 33-T83N-R08W
to a point near the NW Corner Section 33-T83N-R8W; thence southeasterly through
Sections 33 (junction Iowa 100) and 34 to the west corporation line of the City
of Cedar Rapids connecting with Lincoln Freeway.
Cedar
Rapids:
Beginning
at the west corporation line connecting with Lincoln Freeway; thence
southeasterly through the west junction of US 151 and junction of Iowa 922;
thence southeast and east through the junction of Interstate 380 and US 218;
thence east to the east corporation line of Cedar Rapids.
Beginning
again on the east corporation line of Cedar Rapids connecting with Lincoln
Freeway; thence east through Sections 7, 8, 9 (east junction US 151 and
junction Iowa 13), and 10-T82N-R06W and southeast through Sections 11 and
12-T82N-R6W to a point approximately 2,050 feet west of the SE Corner said

of Jurisdiction Agreement TJ-30-0 (75) 57 between the Iowa Department of
Transportation and Linn County, transferred these sections of roads to Linn
County on January 1, 1987 and should be removed from the Primary Road System.
