TITLE: US 65 in Lucas County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to construction and the relocation of US 65 south of Lucas in October 1993, the official description of US 65 in Lucas County should be changed in the Primary Road System to reflect this.

US 65 begins at the Lucas-Wayne County line and runs northerly to the Lucas-Warren County line.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the old description for US 65 in Lucas County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be added to the Primary Road System.

New description - US 65 and its extension in Lucas County described as follows:

Beginning on the Lucas-Wayne County line at a point approximately 1600 feet east of the SW Corner of Section 34-T71N-R23W, Lucas County (NW Corner Section 3-T70N-R23W, Wayne County); thence in a northeasterly direction through Sections 34, 27, and 26-T71N-R23W to a point approximately 800 feet south of the N ¼ Corner of Section 26-T71N-R23W; thence north following substantially the center section line of Sections 26, 23, 14, and 11-T71N-R23W to a point approximately 400 feet north of the center of Section 11-T71N-R23W; thence in a northwesterly direction through Section 11-T71N-R23W and in a northeasterly direction through Section 2-T71N-R23W to a point approximately 800 feet south of the center of Section 2-T71N-R23W; thence north to a point approximately 1500 feet north of the center of Section 2-T71N-R23W; thence northeasterly direction through Section 2-T71N-R23W and Section 35-T72N-R23W in a northerly direction through the west part of Section 36-T72N-R23W and in a northwesterly and northerly direction through Sections 25, 26, and 23 to the S ¼ Corner NE ¼ Section 23-T72N-R23W; thence northeasterly to the south corporation line of Lucas connecting with Division Street.

US 65 begins at the Lucas‑Wayne County line approximately 3 miles southwest of Derby and travels in a northerly direction to the Lucas‑Warren County line via the City of Lucas, Iowa.

Locate US 65 and its extension in Lucas County, Iowa as follows:
