TITLE: Iowa 178, Lyon County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 178 begins at a junction with Iowa 9 approximately ½ mile south of the City of Little Rock and proceeds north to the City of Little Rock.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑178‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑60, between Lyon County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 178 from a junction with Iowa 9 approximately 1100 feet west of the SE Corner Section 35‑T100N‑R43W north to the south corporation line of the City of Little Rock to County jurisdiction on August 11, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑178‑0 (3)‑‑2M‑60, between the City of Little Rock and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 178 from the south corporation line north to Railroad Street to city jurisdiction on August 11, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 178 in Lyon County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 178 and its extension in Lyon County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 1100 feet west of the SE Corner of Section 35‑T100N‑R43W (junction Iowa 9); thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 700 feet west and 400 feet north of the SE Corner of Section 35‑T100N‑R43W; thence north through the east part of said Section 35 to the south corporation line of the City of Little Rock, connecting with an unnamed street.

Little Rock:

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly to Railroad Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 178 in Lyon County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 178 in Lyon County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Locate Iowa 178 and its extension in Lyon County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 1100 feet west of the SE Corner of Section 35‑T100N‑R43W (junction Iowa 9); thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 700 feet west and 400 feet north of the SE Corner of Section 35‑T100N-R43W; thence north through the east part of said Section 33 to the south corporation line of the City of Little Rock, connecting with an unnamed street.

Little Rock:

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly to Railroad Street.
