TITLE: Iowa 232, Madison County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 232 begins in the City of Earlham, and travels northerly approximately one mile to the Madison‑Dallas county line.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑232‑0 (5), between the City of Earlham and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 232 from Iowa Street northerly to the north corporation line to city jurisdiction on July 14, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑232‑0 (4), between Madison County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 232 from the north corporation line of the City of Earlham northerly to the Madison‑Dallas County line near the N ¼ Corner NW ¼ Section 6‑T77N‑R28W to county jurisdiction on August 27, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 232 in Madison County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 232 and its extension in Madison County as follows:

Earlham:

Beginning on an unnamed street at Iowa Street; thence northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Earlham connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly following substantially the west quarter section line through Section 6‑T77N‑R28W to the Madison‑Dallas County line at a point approximately one‑quarter mile east of the NW Corner Section 6‑T77N‑R28W, Madison County (SW Corner Section 31‑T78N‑R28W, Dallas County).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records, Iowa 232 in Madison County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 232 in Madison County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Locate Iowa 232 and its extension in Madison County as follows:

Earlham:

Beginning on an unnamed street at Iowa Street; thence northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Earlham connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly following substantially the west quarter section line through Section 6‑T77N‑R28W to the Madison‑Dallas County line at a point approximately ¼ mile east of the NW Corner Section 6‑T77N‑R28W, Madison County (SW Corner Section 31‑T78N‑R28W, Dallas County).
