TITLE:  Official Description Change:  Iowa 177, Mitchell County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 177 begins at Iowa 9 approximately three miles west of Osage, and travels in a northerly direction terminating in Mitchell, Iowa.

 

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑177‑0 (3) ‑‑2M‑66 between Mitchell County and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved May 2, 1980, that portion of Iowa 177 from Iowa 9 near the S ¼ Corner Section 20‑T98N‑R17W northerly to the south corporation line of Mitchell should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the Mitchell County secondary road system effective July 1, 1980.

 

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑177‑0 (4) ‑‑2M‑66 between the City of Mitchell and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved May 2, 1980, that portion of Iowa 177 from the south corporation line northeasterly, easterly, northerly and easterly to approximately 400 feet east of Hunt Street on Pearl Street should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the City street system of Mitchell effective July 1, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the description of Iowa 177 in Mitchell County, as referred to in the attached detailed description, be deleted from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 177 and its extension in Mitchell County as follows:

 

Beginning at the S ¼ Corner Section 20‑T98N‑R17W (junction Iowa 9); thence north following substantially the center section line of Sections 20, 17 & 8‑T98N‑R17W to the south corporation line of the City of Mitchell at the Cedar River Bridge connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Mitchell:

 

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northeasterly, easterly, northerly, and easterly to a point approximately 400 feet east of Hunt Street.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Iowa 177 in Mitchell County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

 

Iowa 177 begins at the junction Iowa 9 approximately 2 ¾ miles west of Osage and travels in a northerly direction terminating in Mitchell, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 177 and its extension in Mitchell County, Iowa, as follows:

 

Beginning at the S ¼ Corner Section 20‑T98N‑R17W (junction Iowa 9); thence north following substantially the center section line of Sections 20, 17 & 8‑T98N-R17W to the south corporation line of the City of Mitchell at the Cedar River Bridge connecting with unnamed street.

Beginning on an unnamed street at the south corporation line; thence northerly and north­westerly on said unnamed street to Main Street; thence east on Main Street to Hunt Street; thence north on Hunt Street to Pearl Street; thence east on Pearl Street approximately 400 feet.

 

NOW THEREFORE:  Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway Commission approve the revision of Iowa 177 in Mitchell County, Iowa.
