Beginning on the Iowa‑Nebraska State line at a point approximately ¼ mile west of the east line of Section 18‑T83N‑R46W; thence in a northeasterly and easterly direction through Sections 18, 17, 8, 9, 10, 3, 2 and 1‑T83N‑R46W and Section 6‑T83N‑R45W (Interstate 29 Interchange) to the west corporation line of Onawa, connecting with Iowa Avenue.

Onawa:

Beginning on Iowa Avenue at the west corporation line; thence easterly an Iowa Avenue to the east corporation line.

Beginning again on the east corporation line of Onawa, connecting with Iowa Avenue; thence in a northeasterly and southeasterly direction through Sections 2 and 1‑T83N‑R45W and Sections 6, 5, 8 and 9‑T83N‑R44W to the west corporation line of Turin, connecting with 1st Street.

Turin:

Beginning on 1st Street at the west corporation line; thence easterly on 1st Street to the east corporation line.

Beginning again on the east corporation line of Turin, connecting with 1st Street; thence southeasterly through Section 10‑T83N‑R44W (junction Iowa 37) to a point approximately 210 feet north of the center of Section 10‑T83N‑R44W; thence northeasterly through Sections 10, 3 and 2‑T83N‑R44W and Sections 35, 36 and 25‑T84N‑R44W to the south corporation line of Castana connecting with 1st Street.

Castana:

Beginning on 1st Street at the south corporation line; thence northerly and northeasterly on 1st Street to the east corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 175 in Monona County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 175 begins on the Iowa‑Nebraska State line approximately 7 miles SW of Onawa and travels easterly and northeasterly via the City of Onawa, Turin, Castana and Mapleton to the Monona‑Woodbury County line approximately 4 miles NE of Mapleton, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 175 and its extensions in Monona County as follows:

Beginning on the Iowa-Nebraska State line at a point approximately ¼ mile west of the east line of Section 18-T83N-R46W; thence in a northeasterly and easterly direction through Sections 18, 17, 8, 2, 10, 3, 2 and 1‑T83N‑R46W and Section 6-T83N‑R45W (Interstate 20 interchange) to the west corporation line of the City of Onawa, connecting with an unnamed street.

Onawa:

Beginning on the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the east corporation line of the City of Onawa, connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northeasterly and southeasterly direction through Section 2 and 1‑T83N‑R45W and Sections 6, 5, 3 and 9‑T83N‑R44W to the west corporation line of the City of Turin, connecting with an unnamed street.

Turin:

Beginning on the west corporation line, connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the City of Mapleton, connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northerly and northeasterly direction through Sections 13 and 12‑T85N‑R43W and Sections 7, 6 and 5‑T85N‑R42W to the Monona-Woodbury County line at a point approximately 400 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 5‑T85N-R42W, Monona County (SW Corner of Section 32‑T86N‑R42W, Woodbury County).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 175 in Monona County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
