TITLE: Official Description Change: Iowa 22 in Muscatine County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the relocation of Iowa 22 in Sections 22 and 23-T77N-R1E a new description has been written. Also, transfer of jurisdiction agreement 96-TJ-002 between the Iowa Department of Transportation and Muscatine County transferred a section of Old Iowa 22 beginning at Station 5567+00 of relocated Iowa 22 and extending southeast and east approximately 0.56 kilometer (0.35 mile) to the beginning of obliterated portion, to Muscatine County on November 27, 1996.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 22 in Muscatine County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.

New Description - Iowa 22 and its extensions in Muscatine County described as follows:

Beginning on the Muscatine-Johnson County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 7-T77N-R4W Muscatine County (NE Corner Section 12-T77N-R5W, Johnson County); then east following substantially the section line of Section 7-T77N-R4W to a point approximately 1,013 meters (3,325 feet) east of the NW Corner of said Section 7; then in a southeasterly direction through Sections 7, 8 and 9-T77N-R5W to the west corporation line of the City of Nichols, connecting with IIjem Avenue.

Nichols:

Beginning on IIjem Avenue at the west corporation line; then east on IIjem Avenue to the east corporation line.

TITLE: Official Description Change: Iowa 22, Muscatine County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑22‑0(35)‑‑2M‑70 between the City of Muscatine and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred that portion of Iowa 22 from the west corporation line east and southeast to a junction with Iowa 92 to city jurisdiction on July 19 1986.

On June 3, 1986 the Iowa Department of Transportation Commission approved the relocation of Iowa 22 from a junction with relocated US 61 at a point approximately 800 feet west of the N ¼ Corner of Section 33‑T77N‑R2W north, northeast and east to a junction with relocated US 61 and old US 61; then south on old US 61 to a junction with present Iowa 22.

The portion of Iowa 22 from a junction with relocated US 61 at a point approximately 800 feet west of the N ¼ Corner of Section 33‑T77N‑R2W east to the west corporation line of Muscatine should be re-designated as unsigned Iowa 917.

The official description of Iowa 22 in Muscatine County should be revised to reflect these changes.

Iowa 22 begins on the Muscatine‑Johnson County line approximately 7 miles south of the NW Corner of Muscatine County and travels southeasterly, northeasterly, southerly and easterly via Nichols and Muscatine to the Muscatine‑Scott County line near the southeast corner of Muscatine County.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa 22 in Muscatine County and including the new description in the Primary Road System.
