Beginning on the Buena Vista‑Pocahontas County line near the NW Corner Section 30‑T93N‑R34W, Pocahontas County (NE Corner Section 25‑T93N‑R35W, Buena Vista County); thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 30, 29 and 28‑T93N‑R34W to a point approximately 1,000 feet west of the N ¼ Corner Section 28‑T93N‑R34W; thence southeasterly through Section 28‑T93N‑R34W along the south side of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad to the west corporation line of Laurens, connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Laurens:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at the west corporation line; thence southeasterly on unnamed street to the south corporation line.

 

Beginning again on the south corporation line of Laurens connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeast through Section 27‑T93N‑R34W to a point about 400 feet north and 1,150 feet west of the SE Corner Section 27‑T93N‑R34W; thence curving southeasterly to a point near the SE Corner of said 27; thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 35 and 36‑T93N‑R34W and Sections 31, 32 and 33‑T93N‑R33W to a point near the NE Corner Section 33‑T93N‑R33W; thence southeasterly along the south side at the Chicago and Northwestern Railway and substantially parallel thereto through Sections 34 and 35‑T93N‑R33W to the west corporation line of Havelock connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Havelock:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at the west corporation line; thence southeast on unnamed street to the east corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 10 in Pocahontas County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

Iowa 10 begins on the Pocahontas‑Buena Vista County line approx­imately 3 miles west of Laurens, and travels generally easterly and southeasterly via Laurens and Havelock to a junction with Iowa 4 approximately 1 mile southeast of Havelock, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 10 and its extension in Pocahontas County as follows:

 

Beginning on the Buena Vista‑Pocahontas County line near the NW Corner Section 30-T93N-R34W, Pocahontas County (NE Corner Section 25‑T93N‑R35W, Buena Vista County); thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 30,29, and 28‑T93N‑R34W to a point approximately 1000 feet west of the N ¼ Corner Section 28‑T93N‑R34W thence southeasterly through Section 28‑T93N‑R34W along the south side of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad to a point 134 feet beyond the Chicago, Rock island and Pacific Railroad crossing; thence curving southeasterly through said Section 28 to the west corpora­tion line of the City of Laurens connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Laurens:

 

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly to the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning again on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly through Section 27‑T93N‑R34W to a point about 400 feet north and 1150 feet west of the SE Corner Section 27-T93N-R34W; thence curving southeasterly to a point near the SE Corner of said 27; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 35 and 36‑T93N‑R34W and Sections 31,32 and 33‑T93N‑R33W to a point near the NE Corner Section 33‑T93N‑R33W; thence southeasterly along the south side of Chicago and Northwestern Railway and substantially parallel thereto through Sections 34 and 35-­T93N‑R33W to the west corporation line of the City of Havelock connecting an unnamed street.

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning again on the east corporation line of the City of Havelock, connecting with an unnamed street on the south side of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway thence southeasterly along the south side of said railway and substantially parallel thereto through Section 36‑T93N‑R33W to a point (junction Iowa 4) approximately 100 feet south of the E ¼ Corner Section 36‑T93N‑R33W.

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 10 in Pocahontas county, Iowa.
