New Description- Iowa 17 and its extension in Polk
County are described as follows.
Beginning approximately 1500 feet north of the NW
Corner of Section 18-T80N-R25W (junction Iowa 141); thence north along the
Polk-Dallas County line to the south corporation line of Granger.
Granger:
Beginning at the south corporation line; then north
to the north corporation line.
Beginning again at the north corporation line of
Granger; thence northerly following substantially the Polk‑Dallas County
line along the section line of Section 6‑T80N‑R25W to a point
approximately 800 feet south of the NW Corner Section 6‑T80N‑R25W;
thence northeasterly and northwesterly through the west part of Section 6‑T80N‑R25W
and Sections 31, 30 and 19-T81N‑R25W to a point near the W ¼ Corner
Section 19‑T81N‑R25W thence northerly following substantially the
Polk‑Dallas County line along the section line of Sections 19, 18, 7 and
6‑T81N‑R25W to the Polk‑Boone County line at a point near the
NW Corner Section 6‑T81N‑R25W, Polk County (NE Corner Section 1‑T81N-R26W,
Dallas County) (SW Corner Section 31‑T82N‑R25W, Boone County).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
Due
to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa
17 in Polk County should he deleted and the new
description added should be officially included into the Primary System.
Iowa 17 begins on the Polk Dallas County line at a junction with Iowa
141 approximately 8 miles south of the NW Corner of Polk
County, and travels in a general
northerly direction to the NW Corner of Polk
County, Iowa.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
Locate
Iowa 17 in Polk County
as follows:
Beginning
at a point (junction Iowa 141) on the Polk‑Dallas
County line approximately 3500 feet south of the NW Corner Section 7‑T80N‑R25W,
Polk county (NE Corner Section 12‑T80N‑R26W, Dallas County); thence northerly following substantially the
Polk‑Dallas County line along the section line of Sections 7 and 6‑T80N‑R25W
to a point approximately 800 feet south of the NW Corner Section 6‑T80N‑R25W;
thence northeasterly and northwesterly through the west part of Section 6‑T80N‑R25W
and Sections 31, 30 and 19-T81N‑R25W to a point near the W ¼ Corner Section
19‑T81N‑R25W thence northerly following substantially the Polk‑Dallas
County line along the section line of Sections 19, 18, 7 and 6‑T81N‑R25W
to the Polk‑Boone County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 6‑T81N‑R25W,
Polk County (NE Corner Section 1‑T81N-R26W, Dallas County) (SW Corner

Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa
17 in Polk County, Iowa.
NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this
resolution.
