DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement numbers 2002-TJ-005 and 2003-TJ-010, between the city of Des Moines, the city of Norwalk, and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 296 from the Polk-Warren County line/south corporation line of Des Moines/north corporation line of Norwalk (SW Corner Section 31-T78N-R24W, Polk County) (NW Corner Section 6-T77N-R24W, Warren County), connecting with an unnamed street; thence north following substantially the section line of Section 31-T78N-R24W to a point approximately 470 feet to city jurisdiction on February 11, 2005.

New Description - Iowa 296 and its extensions in Polk County described as follows:

Des Moines:

Beginning on the Polk-Warren County line/south corporation line of Des Moines/north corporation line of Norwalk (SW Corner Section 31-T78N-R24W, Polk County) (NW Corner Section 6-T77N-R24W, Warren County), connecting with an unnamed street; thence north following substantially the section line of Section 31-T78N-R24W to a point approximately 470 feet.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve adding the description of Iowa 296 in Polk County to the Primary Road System.
