TITLE:  Official Description Change:  Iowa 212, Tama County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 212 begins at US 30 approximately 6 miles east of the City of Tama and travels in a general southeasterly direction via the City of Chelsea to the Tama‑Benton County line approximately one mile northwest of the City of Belle Plaine, Iowa.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑212‑0 (9), between Tama County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 212 from US 30 approximately 900 feet west of the NE Corner Section 34‑T83N‑R14W to the north corporation line of the City of Chelsea, and from the east corporation line of the City of Chelsea to the Tama‑Benton county line near the NE Corner Section 24‑T82N‑R13W to county jurisdiction on July 31, 1980.

 

The portion of Iowa 212 from the north corporation line of the City of Chelsea southeasterly to the east corporation line was transferred to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980 by an automatic transfer of jurisdiction.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 212 in Tama County from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 212 and its extension in Tama County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately 900 feet west of the NE Corner of Section 34‑T83N‑R14W (junction US 30); thence in a southeasterly, easterly, and southeasterly direction through Section 34, 35, and 36­-T83N‑R14W, Section 1‑T82N‑R14W, and Sections 6 and 7‑T82N‑R13W, to the north corporation line of the City of Chelsea connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Chelsea:

 

Beginning on the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning again on the east corporation line of the City of Chelsea connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a general easterly and southeasterly direction through Sections 17, 16, 15, and 14‑T82N‑R13W to a point approximately 1200 feet east of the SW Corner Section 14-T82N­-R13W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 23 and 24‑T82N‑R13W to the Tama‑Benton County line at a point near the NE Corner Section 24‑T82N‑R13W Tama County (NW Corner Section 19-T82N-­R12W Benton County) (junction Iowa 21).

Iowa 212 begins at US 30 approximately 6 miles east of Tama, and travels in a general southeasterly direction via Chelsea to the Tama‑Benton County line approximately 1 mile northwest of Belle Plaine, Iowa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 212 in Tama County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 212 in Tama County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included into the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Locate Iowa 212 and its extension in Tama County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately 900 feet west of the NE Corner of Section 34‑T83N‑R14W (junction US 30); thence in a southeasterly, easterly, and southeasterly direc­tion through Section 34, 35, and 36‑T83N‑R14W, Section 1‑T82N‑R14W, and Sections 6 and 7-T82N‑R13W, to the north corporation line of the City of Chelsea connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Chelsea:

 

Beginning on the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning again on the cash corporation line of the City of Chelsea connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a general easterly and southeasterly direction through Sections 17, 16, 15, and 14‑T82N‑R13W to a point approximately 1200 feet east of the SW Corner Section 14‑T82N‑R13W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 23 and 24‑T82N‑R13W to the Tama-Benton County line at a point near the NE Corner Section 24‑T82N‑R13W Tama County (NW Corner Section 19‑T82N‑R12W Benton County) (junction Iowa 21).
