Beginning on the Iowa‑Missouri State line at a point approximately 500 feet east of the SW Corner Section 31‑T67N‑R34W; thence in a northeasterly direction through Sections 31, 30, 19, 20, 17, 16, 9, 4 and 3‑T67N‑R34W, and Sections 34 and 35‑T68N‑R34W to a point approximately ¼ mile south and 800 feet east of the NW Corner Section 35‑T68N‑R34W; thence in a northeasterly and northerly direction through said Section 35 to the south corporation line of Bedford, connecting with Madison Street.

Bedford:

Beginning on Madison Street at the south corporation line; thence north on Madison Street to Pollock Boulevard.; thence west on Pollock Boulevard to Bent Street; thence north on Bent Street to the north corporation line.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of Bedford connecting with Bent Street; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 23, 14, 11 and 2‑T68N‑R34W to a point approximately 200 feet north of the SE Corner Section 3‑T68N‑R34W; thence northwest through Section 3‑T68N‑R34W and Section 35‑T69N‑R34W; to a point approximately 1,425 feet north of the SW Corner Section 35‑T69N‑R34W; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 35, 26, 23, 14, 11 and 2‑T69N‑R34W and Sections 35, 26, 23; 14, 11 and 2‑T70N‑R34W to the Taylor‑Adams County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 2‑T70N‑R34W, Taylor County (SW Corner Section 35‑T71N‑R34W, Adams County).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 148 begins on the Iowa‑Missouri State line approximately 4 miles west and 6 ½ miles south of Bedford, and travels generally northeasterly and northerly via Bedford to the Taylor‑Adams County line approximately 10 miles north of Gravity, Iowa.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 148 in Taylor County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 148 in Taylor County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included into the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Locate Iowa 148 and its extension in Taylor County as follows:

Beginning on the Iowa‑Missouri State Line on the west side of the Burlington Northern Railroad at a point approximately 500 feet east of the SW Corner Section 31‑T67N‑R34W; thence in a northeasterly direction along the west side of said railroad and substantially parallel thereto through Sections 31, 30, 19, 20, 17, 16, 9, 4, and 3-T67N-R34W, and Sections 34 and 35‑T68N‑R34W to a point approximately ¼ mile south and 800 feet east of the NW Corner Section 35‑T68N‑R34W; thence in a northeasterly and northerly direction through said Section 35 to the south corporation line of the City of Bedford, connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly, westerly and northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.
