Beginning on the Winneshiek‑Chickasaw County line on the south side of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad at a point approximately 900 feet south of the NW Corner Section 31‑T96N‑R10W, Winneshiek County, (NE Corner Section 36‑T96N‑R11W, Chickasaw County); then in a northeasterly direction along the south side of said railroad and substantially parallel thereto, through Sections 31 and 30‑T96N‑R10W to the west corporation line of Jackson Junction, connecting with an unnamed street.

Jackson Junction:

Beginning on an unnamed street at the west corporation line; then northeast on unnamed street to the east corporation line.

Beginning again on the east corporation line of Jackson Junction connecting with an unnamed street; then in a northeasterly direction along the south side of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and substantially parallel thereto through Section 22‑T96N‑R10W to a point near the NE Corner Section 22‑T96N‑R10W; then east following substantially the section line of Sections 22, 23, and 24‑T96N‑R10W and Section 19‑T96N‑R9W to a point approximately 750 feet east of the SW Corner Section 18‑T96N‑R9W; then in a northeasterly direction through Sections 18 and 17‑T96N‑R9W to the south corporation line of Fort Atkinson, connecting with 1st Street.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of Fort Atkinson connecting with 1st Street on the south side of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad; then in a northeasterly direction along the south side of said railroad and substantially parallel thereto through Section 8‑T96N‑R9W to a point approximately 500 feet south of the NE Corner Section 8‑T96N‑R9W; then in a northeasterly direction through Sections 9, 4 and 3‑T96N‑R9W and Sections 34 and 35‑T97N‑R9W to the west corporation line of Calmar, connecting with Charles Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 24 begins on the Winneshiek‑Chickasaw County line approximately 1 mile north of the SW corner of Winneshiek County, and travels generally northeasterly via Jackson Junction, Fort Atkinson and Calmar to a point in Calmar, Iowa.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Iowa 24 in Winneshiek County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 24 in Winneshiek County should be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
