Goal of the project

The goal of the I-29 improvement project is to enhance the safety and operation of Interstate 29 through Sioux City. The decision to improve the corridor is based on the need to:

• improve safety;
• improve traffic operations;
• provide for driver expectancy; and
• improve roadway infrastructure conditions.

Project Description

The I-29 project corridor is divided into three segments. These segments are being planned, designed and constructed separately. Construction of the I-29 corridor improvements is anticipated to begin in 2009, subject to the availability of funding.
