Beginning on University
Avenue at the west corporation line of Pleasant Hill (east corporation line of
Des Moines); thence east along University Avenue following the Section
5-T78N-R23W; thence southeast and east along Sections 4 and 3-T78N-R23W to a
point 1200 feet southeast of the NW Corner of Section 3-T78N-R23W (junction US
65); thence east and northeast through Section 2-T78N-R23W to the east

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
Due
to the relocation of US 65 in Polk County on December 21, 1994, the official description
of Iowa 163
should be revised to reflect the new alignment.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It
is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa
163 in Polk County to include the attached new
description in the Primary Road System.

description added should be officially included into the Primary System.
Iowa 163 begins at US 65 and
69 in Des Moines and travels easterly via Des Moines and Pleasant Hill
to the Polk‑Jasper County line approximately 6 miles north of Runnells, Iowa.

Iowa 163 and its extensions in Polk County
as follows;

Beginning
on an unnamed street at East 14th Street (junction US 65 and 69); thence
easterly to the east corporation line (north corporation line of the City of
Pleasant Hill) connecting with an unnamed street.
Pleasant Hill:
Beginning
on the north corporation line (east corporation line of the City of Des Moines) and connecting
with an unnamed street; thence easterly along the north corporation line
connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly and easterly to the
east corporation line and connecting with an unnamed street.
Beginning
again on the east corporation line of the City of Pleasant Hill connecting with an unnamed
