Beginning at a point approximately 0.54 KM (0.33 mile) north of the SW Corner Section 7-T80N-R25W, Polk County (SE Corner Section 12-T80N-R26W, Dallas County) (junction Iowa 17); thence southeast through Sections 7, 18 and 17-T80N-R25W to a point approximately 0.40 KM (0.25 mile) south of the N ¼ Corner Section 17-T80N-R25W; thence curving in a southeasterly direction to a point approximately 0.40 KM (0.25 mile) north of the SE Corner Section 17-T80N-R25W; thence south through the east part of Sections 17 and 20-T80N-R25W to a point approximately 350 meters (1,150 feet) south at the NE Corner Section 20-T80N-R25W; thence south following substantially the section line of Sections 21-T80N-R25W to the north corporation line of Johnston.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

The reconstruction of the Interstate 35/80 and Iowa 141 interchange extends Iowa 141 to the south ramps, southeast of the center of the interchange.

 

This change is needed to connect with the 100th Street Diagonal.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the old description of Iowa 141 in Polk County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 141 in Polk County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

Iowa 141 begins on the Polk‑Dallas County line approximately 7 ½ miles south of the NW Corner of Polk County and travels southeasterly and southerly to Interstate 35 east of Grimes, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 141 in Polk County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately a mile north of the SW Corner Section 7‑T80N-R25W, Polk County (SE Corner Section 12‑T80N‑R26W, Dallas County) (junction Iowa 17); thence southeasterly through Sections 7, 18, and 17‑T80N‑R25W to a point approximately ¼ mile south of the N ¼ Corner Section 17‑T80N‑R25W; thence curving in a southeasterly direction to a point approximately ¼ mile north of the SE Corner Section 17‑T80N‑R25W; thence southerly through the east part of Sections 17 and 20‑T80N‑R25W to a point approximately 1150 feet south of the NE Corner Section 20‑T80N‑R25W; thence southerly following substantially the section line of Sections 21, 28 and 33‑T80N‑R25W (junction Iowa 44) and Sections 4, 9 and 16‑T79N‑R25W to a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 16‑T79N‑R25W; thence curving south­easterly to a point (center of interchange with Interstate 35) in the SW ¼ of Section 16‑T79N‑R25W, Polk County.
