BUTYL RUBBER MEMBRANE

GENERAL

Butyl Rubber Membranes are used in preventing water under hydrostatic pressure and other materials from entering undesired areas of a structure. Adhesives utilized on the membrane to concrete and other surfaces shall be as recommended by the manufacturer of the Membrane.

MANUFACTURER & BRAND NAME APPROVAL

Butyl Rubber Membranes shall meet the requirements of ASTM D6134, Type II, Butyl.

ACCEPTANCE

Acceptance of Butyl Rubber Membrane will be based on certification that the product meets the material requirements of ASTM D6134, Type II, Butyl.

MONITOR SAMPLING AND TESTING

The Iowa DOT may sample at the job site, supplier, or source and test to verify compliance with the specifications.
