RUBBER MEMBRANE
GENERAL
Rubber Membranes are used in preventing water under hydrostatic pressure and other materials from entering undesired areas of a structure. Adhesives utilized on the membrane to concrete and other surfaces shall be as recommended by the manufacturer of the Membrane.
Note: some products may require multiple layers of their membrane based on manufacturers recommendations when applied to joints over 1/16”. Special care should be taken to follow manufacturer’s recommendations for product installation.

Manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and / or producers shall submit product information including Product data sheets, MSDS and any independent test data available to the construction and material bureau c/o the manufactured materials engineer for review for inclusion onto the approved list of products. Certification of Conformance to Specification above is required.
Acceptance of Rubber Membranes will be based on products meeting the material requirements listed above.
Approved manufacturers and brand names are listed in MAPLE.
ACCEPTANCE
Acceptance of Rubber Membranes will be based on approved source/brand name that meet the requirements above.
MONITOR SAMPLING AND TESTING
The Iowa DOT may sample at the job site, supplier, or source and test to verify compliance with the specifications.
