TABLE H
Price Adjustment for Asphalt Binder
(Noncomplying Dynamic Shear Rheometer)
Tests on the Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) will be used for acceptance testing in the District Materials Lab per IM 204 requirements. The test report for the samples will show a test result expressed as G*/sin delta in units of kPa. This number is a check on the high temperature portion of the performance grading specification. The minimum value is 1.00 kPa at the high test temperature, i.e.: 58o C for PG 58-28 or 64o C for PG 64-22. Since this value is the same for all grades, a single price adjustment schedule can be used for all PG asphalt binders. Based on the current precision of the DSR tests, the following table applies:

This schedule allows for a 10 percent testing tolerance. The price adjustment applies to the asphalt binder only.
* For HMA bid by Area:
(1) Percent Price Adjustment shall be applied to the Invoice Price paid for affected asphalt binder quantity, to determine the Price Adjustment amount for HMA area involved.
(2) If Invoice Price paid for asphalt binder is not available, payment for affected HMA area shall be based on: Percent Payment = 100 – (0.5 X % Price Adjustment)
** Engineer may consider the lot defective.
