3.30 CONTROL OF MATERIALS
3.31 IDENTIFICATION OF APPROVED MATERIALS
District Materials Engineers (DMEs) provide for identification of approved materials originating in their area and destined for a project. When these materials arrive before laboratory reports are received by the project engineer or when shipments are continuous, such as aggregates trucked to a batching plant, arrangements for identification of approved materials will be the responsibility of the DME in accordance with Materials I.M. 204.
In the absence of apparent defects, materials arriving on the job identified as approved by the DME may be accepted by the project engineer or the inspector. The identification invoices, certificates, and scale tickets should be filed for future reference.
3.32 DOCUMENTATION OF APPROVED STEEL BEAM RAILING
Materials I.M. 455.02 and Appendix A deal with brand registration and guarantee for formed steel beam rail.
The basis of acceptance for steel beam railing is by approved brand. Inspection and acceptance must be documented according to Materials I.M. 455.02 and Materials I.M. 204 "Supplemental Guide for Basis of Acceptance."
