INSPECTION & ACCEPTANCE
Rigid steel conduit shall meet the requirements of applicable Iowa Department of Transportation Specifications. Approved Products are listed in the Materials Approved Products Listing Enterprise (MAPLE).
Acceptance of rigid steel conduit for use on Iowa Department of Transportation projects will be based on manufacturer and brand name approval.
To obtain approval the manufacturer shall submit the following items to the Office of Materials in Ames, Iowa:
1. A current product brochure
2. Complete manufacturer recommendations for usage
3. A 3-foot-long sample with an appropriate coupling
4. Confirmation of compliance to IM 107
The laboratory evaluation will check the product conformance to relevant specifications.
Approval of conduit may be withdrawn because of non-compliant monitor test results; product changes made after the original approval, or unsatisfactory field performance.
Zinc-coated rigid steel conduit shall conform to the requirements of the latest version of ANSI C80.1 Specifications. Acceptance of steel conduit shall be based on the identification mark on the conduit.
Each length of conduit, nipple and elbow shall be identified with the manufacturer name and trademark and the words “Rigid Steel Conduit” or “Rigid Metal Conduit,” except for close-threaded nipples, which need not be so identified.
The Construction and Materials Bureau may sample and test rigid steel conduits to verify compliance with Specifications.
CERTIFICATION PROCEDURES
The signed certification or mill test reports shall also include a statement indicating the steel meets the requirements of IM 107, Group 2, Build America Buy America.
The certification of compliance shall be signed by a designated or responsible company representative and shall indicate compliance to specifications (Example Follows):
The materials itemized in this shipment are certified to be in compliance with the applicable ASTM Standards and the Iowa Department of Transportation Standard Specifications, IMs and meet the Build America Buy America requirements as described in IM 107 for all steel, iron products and coatings. |
