Hamilton Blvd. at I-29

July 7-Nov. 7 - Construction work on Hamilton Boulevard at Interstate 29 (exit 149) in Sioux City requires closing the Hamilton Boulevard to traffic beginning at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, until Saturday, Nov. 7, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office.

During this closure, the I-29 ramps at Hamilton Boulevard will remain open. Hamilton Boulevard traffic wishing to access northbound I-29 will use this detour (see map below) and traffic wishing to access southbound I-29 will use this detour (see map below).

I-29 at Perry Creek

April 9-June 15 - Replacement of a fire-damaged bridge deck on Interstate 29 at Perry Creek requires shifting northbound I-29 traffic to the southbound lanes with two lanes of traffic in each direction, and closing the northbound exit ramp to Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, April 9, until Monday, June 15, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office.


2020 construction project update

Replacement of the fire damaged, I-29 northbound bridge will occur in 2020. Construction work will include, placement of median barrier work, aesthetic work and permanent pavement markings.

Reconstruction of Hamilton Blvd., between the ramp terminals, will begin after the July 4 holiday. The work is anticipated to be complete November 1.
