2006 LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Overview

Each year the Office of Policy and Legislative Services reviews all new legislation and compiles transportation- and government-related bills into one publication. Portions of the 2006 Iowa Acts for the DOT are listed below. The publication includes 49 of the House and Senate files passed by the General Assembly during the 2006 regular session , as well as a special section concerning HF 2351 passed during the July 14, 2006, special session.

The 2006 legislature adjourned May 4 and sent 122 House and 66 Senate files to the Governor. The legislature also met during special session on July 14, 2006, and voted to override Governor Vilsack's veto of HF 2351, eminent domain legislation passed during the regular 2006 legislative session and vetoed on June 2, 2006.

Subject Listing shows the bills by category and bill number. The five subject listing categories are: Appropriations; Highway; Motor Vehicle; Air, Rail, Transit and Water; and Government and Administration.

The Index by Code Section identifies certain Code sections amended by the bills, along with the bill number and a brief explanation of the change.

The Reports/Studies Required page lists those reports/studies that affect the DOT.

The Administrative Rules page identifies rules that the DOT must adopt or amend as a result of the new legislation.

The Special Session page includes information on eminent domain legislation, HF 2351.
