Horizontal Curve Sign Program
The Horizontal Curve Sign Program has been replaced by the Sign Replacement Program for Cities and Counties (SRPFCC). If you previously submitted an application for the Horizontal Curve Sign Program, you are still eligible for reimbursement once the signs are installed. All new applications should go through the SRPFCC.
The intent of the Horizontal Curve Sign Program is to provide funding to counties for the purchase of curve warning and chevron signs. Funds can be used to reimburse counties for purchases of advance warning signs, advisory speed plaques, chevrons and arrows. Beginning January 2013, posts and hardware are eligible to be reimbursed.
Counties may request funding for use on any public road. An applicant must not have applied for funding under this program in the prior 12 months.
The Horizontal Curve Sign Program, which began in 2011, was allocated $400,000 in funding. Additional monies are being sought to expand and continue the program beyond these start-up funds.
Application form and instructions are available at the bottom of this page and may be submitted electronically.
A maximum of $10,000 per applicant, per year may be awarded.
An applicant may not purchase signs to be covered under this program until after submitting the required application form/agreement and spreadsheet, and receiving written authorization to proceed from the Iowa DOT’s program administrator.
Program started in 2011 with $400,000. Additional funds are being sought to expand/continue the program.
There is no application deadline. However, funding is limited and applications are received and processed on a first-submitted, first-funded basis.
