Lakes 71 Construction

Beginning March 13, 2023, weather permitting

• In Arnolds Park, we’ll be reconstructing the intersections at Okoboji Grove Road, Benit Drive, Lake Street, Dam Road, and Ackley Street.
• In Okoboji, the project will include intersection reconstruction at Lake Shore Drive, Sanborn Avenue, and Okoboji View Avenue.
• We will be replacing the northbound lane of U.S. 71 from Ackley Street to Gordon Drive/Lake Shore Drive.

During the intersection construction, we’ll be working on half of the area at a time, keeping traffic moving through the other half.

September 5 start

• In Arnolds Park, we’ll be working northbound U.S. 71 from Benit Drive thru Broadway Street.
• In Okoboji, the project includes the reconstruction of all lanes of U.S. 71 from Lake Shore/Gordon Drive to Sanborn Avenue, the intersection at City Hall Street, Depot Street and east half of Sanborn Avenue.
• We will also be working on the U.S. 71 reconstruction from north of Ackley Street to the south of Lake Shore Drive and north of Lake Shore Drive to the south of Sanborn Avenue (The closure of Causeway is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 18 and lasting about four weeks.)

• This stage includes the reconstruction of the intersections at Ida Street, (west half) Dam Road, (east half) Broadway Street, and Linden Drive.
• We’ll also be working on southbound U.S. 71 from north of Benit Drive north to south of Broadway Street and north of Sanborn Avenue to north of Stakeout Road.

• The last phase includes reconstructing the intersections at Hinshaw Street, and Stakeout Road.
• We’ll finish up the U.S. 71 reconstruction from north of Broadway, north to south of Ackley Street, and north of Sanborn Avenue to the north of Stakeout Road.
