The 2017 Iowa State Rail Plan, intended to guide the Iowa Department of Transportation in its activities of promoting access to rail transportation, helping to improve the freight railroad transportation system, has been released.
The Iowa Transportation Commission on Feb. 9, 2016 approved more than $2.6 million in grant funding for six transportation infrastructure-related development projects under the Linking Iowas Freight Transportation System (LIFTS) program.

Resources are included to help make shipping by rail in Iowa easier and more understandable.
