Keeping highway travelers in Iowa moving – that’s the goal of the Traffic Operations Bureau in the Systems Operations Division. We utilize technology like cameras and sensors to gather, analyze, and provide information to the traveling public.
Key elements of this group’s efforts are the coordination of safety and mobility through Transportation System Management and Operations(TSMO). Since safe, reliable mobility is our agency’s goal, this program provides a basis for a large portion of the functions within the Iowa DOT. The program is guided by and aligns with the
Iowa DOT State Long-Range Transportation Plan and the
Iowa DOT Business Plan.
