Location Referencing System Team Report

Final Report, Jan. 15, 1998, by the Location Referencing System team.

Combining information from different data sources within a department of transportation has been an information processing concern. With the mandates contained within the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA), the integration of this data is increasingly important.

The Development of a Linear Referencing System

Request for proposal, Dec. 11, 1998, RFP# LT99022.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is issuing this request for proposals (RFP) for the development and implementation of a linear referencing system (LRS) for all public streets and highways in the state.

Linear proposal for services

Request for proposal, April 19, 1999, RFP# LT99022.

This proposal is respectfully submitted by GeoAnalytics, Inc. Madison, Wisconsin, (hereinafter "GeoAnalytics") to State of Iowa Department of Transportation.

Field pilot results

Linear Referencing System, March 16, 2001

In April 1999, the Iowa Department of Transportation began a project to develop a linear referencing system (LRS) for the department. A linear reference system's primary purpose is to improve Iowa DOT's business workflows and decision-making by improving the integration of disparate data using the data's linear locations as the common link.

Conceptual design

Linear referencing system, Jan. 31, 2000

The Iowa Department of Transportation's Linear Referencing System (LRS) Development Project has several phases. The LRS design phase is decomposed into three tasks – conceptual, logical and physical design. The conceptual design is a high-level model of the system that captures the "should be" situations.

Logical design summary 7

Linear Referencing System Summary document, May 2000

In April 1999, the Iowa Department of Transportation began a project to develop a linear referencing system (LRS) for the department. A linear reference system's primary purpose is to allow the Iowa DOT to integrate disparate data by using linear reference method (LRM) locations as the common link between them.

Logical design technical 9

Linear Referencing System Summary document, May 2000

The purpose of this document is to provide the detailed model requirements of the logical design phase for the Iowa Department of Transportation's linear referencing system (LRS). This technical document focuses exclusively on the LRS data and process models.

Physical database model

Technical reference document, June 2000

The physical design is the third and final design phase in the Iowa Department of Transportation's Linear Referencing System (LRS) Development Project. The purpose of the physical design is to determine how to meet the LRS requirements from the logical design phase using specific technology choices.

Physical design summary

Technical reference document, July 2000

The purpose of the Iowa Department of Transportation's Linear Referencing System (LRS) Development Project is to improve how the Iowa DOT manages and applies its linear referencing method by developing a LRS to integrate these methods and their associated business data.

Physical design technical

Physical design technical document, July 2000

Design for the Iowa Department of Transportation's linear referencing system (LRS). Specifications are how the LRS requirements will be met using Iowa DOT's technology and organizational environments. This technical document describes the technology, process, and organizational specifications of the LRS.
