Travel trailer dealer's license
Anyone engaged in the business of selling travel trailers is required to obtain a travel trailer dealer's license. If currently licensed as a motor vehicle dealer, a travel trailer dealer's license is still required.
A $25,000 travel trailer surety bond is required unless the applicant already has a bond on file with the Iowa DOT as a motor vehicle dealer.
Contract for new travel trailers
If selling new travel trailers a contract in writing with the manufacturer will be needed. A copy of the contract for each new line of travel trailers is required.
An extension license is required for any sales lots within the county that are in addition to the licensed location. A separate travel trailer dealer's license is required to be obtained for each county in which business is conducted.

Telephone service and office area. A travel trailer dealer's principal place of business shall include telephone service and an adequate office area, separate from other facilities, for keeping business records, manufacturer's certificates of origin, certificates of title or other evidence of ownership for all travel trailers offered for sale. The display facility may be an indoor area or an outdoor area with an all-weather surface. An all-weather surface does not include grass or exposed soil.
