A constructability meeting for the Missouri Valley Bypass project will be held Monday, Feb. 2, 2026 from 2-3:30 P.M. The hybrid meeting will be held in Ames in a meeting room next to the DOT's main entrance, and online via the link (below). This U.S. 30 two-lane bypass of Missouri Valley is approximately 4 miles long, and includes 4 new bridges (2 over Union Pacific Railroad). Grading and bridges will be let in July of 2027. Paving will be let in July of 2029.

This meeting was held Monday, November 24th, 2025 to gather industry feedback on the constructability of the Gordon Drive Viaduct Reconstruction project in Sioux City.  The Iowa DOT sought input on the preliminary design to identify potential challenges and opportunities for improving constructability, cost-effectiveness, and project delivery.

The Iowa DOT has updated the contractor insurance provisions in Specification 1107.02, Insurance.  These changes impact coverage limits as well as other updates.  These new requirements will be effective January 1, 2027.  Contractors may meet these new requirements through their annual renewals or through an update to a current policy, provided the provisions are met prior to the posted deadline.  The new specification is attached for your information and use in updating your policies.

Iowa DOT Special Letting: Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 10 a.m. for steel girder repair on IA 175 over I-29 in Monona County. An over-height vehicle struck the bridge, damaging beams and cross frames in Span 2. Due to shortened advertisement and specialty work (heat straightening), a Preliminary Notice is available at the link below. Formal advertisement expected on/before January 23, 2026. A separate notice will be sent when advertised.
