Aircraft are required to be registered with the Iowa DOT prior to performing aerial application in Iowa. It is unlawful to operate or authorize operation of an aerial application aircraft in Iowa without a valid aircraft registration certification. Pesticide licenses issued by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship are inactive for aircraft that are not registered with the Iowa DOT.
