Travel Tips

Byways are beautiful, but drivers need to keep their eyes on the road at all times. Be sure to:

  • Pull over to a safe location to get a better view.
  • Leave photos to passengers -- never take them while you're driving.
  • Use caution on gravel roads. Slow down and watch for traffic at uncontrolled intersections. You can't always count on seeing the dust of a vehicle coming from the side road.
  • Share the road with motorcycles and bicycles, and all vehicles.
  • Have patience and never pass on hills or curves. Many byways are used by large farm equipment, especially in the spring and fall.
  • Text when stopped, never when driving. It's not only a bad idea, it's illegal!
