The Bridges and Structures Bureau at the Iowa Department of Transportation is responsible for the design, maintenance and rehabilitation of bridges and other transportation structures on the state highway system. 

As atypical problems arise that cannot be addressed as part of the typical bureau planning process, special evaluations are often needed.
