JEFFERSON, Iowa – June 2, 2025 – If you travel on U.S. 30 near Ogden you need to be aware of an upcoming road closure that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Jefferson construction office.
Beginning on Monday, June 16 until Aug. 15, weather permitting, crews will need to close U.S. 30 from the Greene/Boone County line east to Ogden, so a concrete overlay can be placed on the roadway. The closure will also require closing U.S. 169 near this area.
In addition to the concrete overlay on U.S. 30, the project also includes safety improvements at the west junction of U.S. 30/U.S. 169. The intersection will be reconstructed to add an eastbound left-turn lane from U.S. 30 to northbound U.S. 169 and to expand the right-turn lane from westbound U.S. 30 to northbound U.S. 169.
During the road closures, U.S. 30 (see map) and U.S. 169 (see map) traffic will follow a marked detour route that uses U.S. 169, Boone/Greene County Road E-57, Iowa 144, and Boone/Greene County Road E-26.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
