Hello IaRTN Users,
There was a power outage at the central campus yesterday around 3:45 that may have affected your connection. The IaRTN servers were back online around midnight thanks to our great IT team.
The IaRTN utilizes seven virtual servers and 80+ Internet Service Providers. That is a lot of moving parts to keep running, so there will be some unexpected issues from time to time.
It is always best practice to set physical monuments in your project areas for control. Checking your IaRTN shots throughout your day is recommended. You can also use those monuments with other survey equipment when the IaRTN corrections are not available.
The IaRTN is just another tool in your toolbox. Best practices would include a contingency plan for times like yesterday that will allow you to keep working. Our IT team usually resolves any issue quickly, but it is your responsibility to follow best practices in the field.
