New Hampton, Iowa – May 25, 2023 – If you drive on U.S. 18 from Fredericksburg to West Union in Chickasaw and Fayette counties you need to be aware of a concrete pavement patching project that may slow down your trip.

Beginning on Wednesday, June 7, until late August, weather permitting, crews will begin work on concrete patching of the roadway. This work will require intermittent lane closures. Motorists will be directed through the work zone with temporary signals, flaggers, and pilot cars.

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
