Jefferson, Iowa – Oct. 18, 2023 – If you travel on South 6th Street north of U.S. 30 in Nevada you need to be aware of construction work that may slow down your trip.

Later this week crews will reopen Story County Road S-14 south of U.S. 30. Starting on Tuesday, Oct. 24, until Tuesday, Nov. 28, weather permitting, crews will close South 6th Street so they can connect the new roadway to South 6th Street and U.S. 30 via the existing South 6th Street connection.

While South 6th Street is closed you will follow a marked detour route in Nevada using U.S. 30, Southwest 3rd Street, and E Avenue (see map).

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
