Davenport, Iowa – Feb. 27, 2024 – If you drive on Interstate 80 near West Branch you need to be aware of upcoming overnight road closures that may impact your trip. The closures will be in place for the demolition of the Lower West Branch bridge over I-80.

Here are the details for the road closures on I-80 in Johnson County near West Branch provided by the Iowa DOT’s Davenport construction office.

  • Monday night, March 4, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, weather permitting, eastbound I-80 will be closed to traffic. You be directed to a marked detour route by taking Johnson County Road F-44/Herbert Hoover Highway (exit 249) to West Branch (exit 254) to eastbound I-80.
  • Tuesday night, March 5, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, weather permitting, westbound I-80 will be closed to traffic. You will be directed to a marked detour route by traveling through West Branch (exit 254) to Johnson County Road F-44/Herbert Hoover Highway (exit 249) and then west on I-80 (exit 249).

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
