Dubuque, Iowa - March 11, 2024 – If you drive on the U.S. 61/Grandview interchange in Dubuque, you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may impact your trip.
To allow crews to demolish the Grandview Avenue bridge, U.S. 61 will be closed Thursday, March 21 at 9 p.m. The bridge will remain closed overnight and is expected to reopen March 22 by 6 a.m. You will follow a marked detour route using the Grandview Avenue ramps.
Once the bridge is demolished, U.S. 61 will remain open with head-to-head traffic on one side of the median. During this part of the project, the Grandview Avenue ramps will remain open, but you will only be able to access the open side of U.S. 61. Limited ramp closures may also take place.
Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
