Jefferson, Iowa – March 26, 2024 – If you travel on U.S. 69/Grand Avenue in Ames you need to be aware of lane closures that could impact your trip.
Beginning on Monday, April 1, weather permitting, crews will close the right lane of U.S. 69/Grand Avenue from north of Bloomington Road to 5th Street so sidewalk and curb work can take place. Work will occur daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. In late May, crews will work on milling and asphalt pavement resurfacing. Work hours will be extended once Ames schools are out for the year. This portion of the project is expected to be complete by early August, weather permitting.
In mid- to late May, work on U.S. 69/South Duff Avenue from South 1st Street to Jewel Drive will begin. Work hours will be overnights on Sundays through Fridays from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
