Jefferson, Iowa – April 17, 2024 – If you travel on 580th Street north of U.S. 30 on the east side of Ames you need to be aware of a traffic pattern change that could affect your trip.
On Monday, April 29 at 7 a.m., until late May, weather permitting, crews will close a stretch of 580th Street from north of U.S. 30 up to old U.S. 30/Lincoln Way so crews can work on grading and paving the intersection of the existing 580th Street and the new frontage road on the north side of U.S. 30.
While 580th Street is closed you will use a marked detour route using 580th Street, old U.S. 30/Lincoln Way, and 600th Street (see map).
Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
